Combining Personal Communication with Modern Technology

NEW! Video Relay Services www.hamiltonrelay.com

BIS has joined with Hamilton Relay Services to offer free video relay services to consumers, business and government-Hamilton VRS. Through the use of web camera technology and the Internet, a BIS interpreter provides sign language interpretation of your telephone conversation right on the screen of your computer!

Hamilton Relay Services is one of the nation's premier providers of telecommunications relay services and is the contracted relay provider for several states across the nation. Hamilton is well-known for professionalism, reliability and quality. Hamilton Telecommunications, based in Aurora, Nebraska, currently provides state-contracted relay services for Nebraska, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, Maine, Washington, DC, and Wyoming. Established in 1901, Hamilton also provides local telephone and cable television service, call center services, Internet services, computer sales, network integration and much more to customers in Nebraska and across the country.

Hamilton VRS can be used for personal or business communication—even video conferencing. To discover more, log on to www.hamiltonrelay.com.

Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
VRI makes use of videoconferencing technology to provide interpreting service from a remote location, so an interpreter does not have to be at your location. VRI is provided by an interpreter located at BIS' office. VRI is intended to be used in situations where a live interpreter would usually be called in, such as staff meetings, conferences, or training sessions.

Computer-Assisted Real Time (CART) Captioning
A method that provides English text of the spoken word instantaneously as it is being spoken. Real time captioning works for those who cannot hear well at meetings or other gatherings. These services are usually provided by real time court reporters around Wisconsin using court reporting equipment which will project the verbatim spoken work onto a computer screen, a projector screen or a TV.
